I'm about to buy a 390 porch awning from Glossop caravans. I've not seen this type before and don't know the exact name, but it has a pole at the back from the top of the awning rail to the floor on both sides of the awning and has cushioned material where the pole is which pushes up to the caravan to close the gap between the awning and the van (apparently). Has anybody got one of these and are they any better than the normal 260/390 porch awnings.

Regards

Ian

Hi

Is it the Sunncamp ultima you are thinking of? We bought a 390 at the nec and have used it twice. Once up it is brilliant but divorce was on the cards while we were erecting it. Each time we have been unsuccessful in getting it flush with the caravan. Any tips would be very helpful...

But we love it very spacious and bright. Also it was quite windy on paddies weekend yet caused no problems. We also have a PDQ, this is great also but much much more space in the 390. Good luck!

i have had one for a year now.... and would recoomend ... if the rail on the caravan is straight u are ok but if it slants down as some do then it may not fit close to van sides....so when erecting try to keep away not to thread where rail dips... of course it tells you this in the instructions after you have got it home.... but to late then

Hi, Ian,

We were looking at these awnings, but following our Easter in Thirsk (at the C&CC Folk Group Rally), I took photos. of at least two of these awnings which were collapsed by the weight of the snow. Instead of being convex, they were concave against the side of the van. Made coming out the door very difficult.
