Hello everyone,just been argos web page,they have a Challenge Xtreme 500watt inverter on offer at £19.99, reduced from £59.99.

I purchased one these last summer and they are very good value.

Although cheap inverters will do their job with most electrical equipment, such inverters invariably only provide a modified sine wave AC supply. This can result in problems with some sensitive equipment, strangely enough even some coffee makers, which require a true sine wave supply.
 
Don't forget that 500watts will drag about 45amps from the battery at 12 volts, so make sure that the cable is fat enough and don't use the 12v sockets in the van or the cigar lighter in the car. If you are lucky you'll just blow a fuse if not you melt the plug or wiring.
