85% Towing Information

Hi Guys

Please can we refrain from using the word rule, when queering or advising on 85% towing information, before this becomes a rule by our friends at the EEC?

I think there's little danger of the 85% formula becoming an EU directive. The law in Germany for towing at 100km/h (60mph) has just been raised to allow a 100% weight ratio so I can't see the ratio being brought down again.

But its still a good guideline for people with little or no experience to follow...

Does it hurt calling it a rule? will it endanger people? No! so whats the harm?

As for the EEC turning it into a real rule? Not very likely!

You have a point, Steve, but maybe because it is often called a rule, some people seem to think it is cast in stone and woe betide your own safety if the weight ratio of your outfit is 86%.
