We have a portable AEG system that came from Comet or somebody like that in the sales.

It's not as heavy as roof mounted van units and I've found a way of fitting it into the van with the exhaust going through a floor vent. My wife had it on yesterday in the van as it was so hot for it's first trial run.

We bought if or home use but it worked well in the van according to my wife. It is very quiet and you could easily have it on at night with no fear of not sleeping or waking all around you unlike some van units we've encountered.

Suggest a hunt around the big DIY and electrical retailers to see what they have and then try it in the van if you find something the right size and weight and march it back if it is no good.

Something you can't do with a big thing bolted to the roof.

we just spent our first weekend in our new Bailey with a blizzard 2100 fitted. the new model is very quiet and very cold (if you want it to be)

I would suggest that you look at fitted systems as they are easier to manage, can be added to the weighted plate of the van (contact manufacturer) and do not have to be lugged around.

Very pleased with ours and loved the comment of our neighbour when he asked how I could sit inside the van on such a hot day (no realising I had the unit on) and he was stood next to the van

Roof mounted air con is the way forward. The Dometic 2100's are a very good unit. I am not keen on the Waeco unit as they are alot heavier and not as effective.

The 2100 unit is only 34 kg and it can heat the van aswell.

Hope this helps.

I have been looking at air conditioning for my Bailey Vendee, whereabouts on the roof is yours fitted - dose it replace one of the vents? and who fitted it for you?

Thanks

We have the Dometic 2100 fitted and it is quiet and very effective but we seem to have found a problem. We and our granddaughters developed irriatating coughs and dry tickly like irritable throats, we had to find a doctor for the girls and he blamed the Air Conditioning. Using car aircon and then sitting and sleeping in the cool van is to much "artificial air" he said.

We've cut back the usage and feel better for it.

I also find the weight on the roof a negative factor, I'm sure our old van handled better without the blimp up top.
