A few awning questions....

Hello again! I'm interest in getting an awning for my van, and I just have a few questions I'd like to ask:

Firstly, two quick questions, which can be given a quick answer:

- How do you cover your wheels to stop a draft?

- Is it worth buying them expensive floor tiles?

And lastly:

- Do you get a ground sheet when you purchase an awning?

For some reason, I had always presumed you do, and after all, it makes sense. However, I rang Towsure and they said that you dont get a ground sheet with an awning, you have to buy them seperately.

So I looked on their website, and their ground sheets are sold in metre sizes, I would have thought they'd be sold in awning sizes?

With an awning you get a short piece of awning skirt which attaches to the long skirt with a figure of 8 piece of plastic.

Attaching the other end to the van is the tricky bit.

Either Velcro stuck on the van wall and skirt, or suction cups stuck to the van wall and eyelets through the skirt.

Under NO circumstances use anything on the van which requires screws to be put into the van wall.

Floor tiles,,no, unless you have a liking for them

Groundsheet,not supplied with awning.

Whilst sold in metre lengths, they do come in different widths, which are the same as the width of the awning generally.

my awning is now set to spend the life in my loft,I bargained to get a full size awning instead of a half size ,put it up once,bought a basic ground sheet & thick awning carpet to cover my 6 meter van cost of

I understand about the skirt that you attatch to the van, but this figure eight thingy confuses me, is that to do with covering the wheels?

Also, how do you attatch the ground sheet to the awning?

figure of 8 thingy - a length of plastic, with the equivalent of two awning channels back to back running the length of it. When viewed from end it looks like a figure 8. This takes the place of the skirt channel where there is a break in it due to the caravan wheel. The smaller piece of plastic skirt goes into the top channel of the figure of 8 then on to the caravan body with velcro or whatever. When you see it you will understand it better. Personnaly I never bother with the wheel cover part.

Fixing the groundsheet to the awning - you don't.
