The foam in the bench seats of our caravan had flattened where we sit, a common thing. I was considering having the foam replaced and mentioned it to a friend who is an upholsterer. He said to try steaming the seat cushions with a steam cleaner before opting to replace the foam as the foam can become dehydrated and loses its springiness, his words, not mine. I wasn't going to doubt him but, I checked online and there are many videos showing people rejuvenating foam rubber, some of which looks ancient, with steam.
So this morning we gave it a go and I have to say the results are surprisingly good. Gone are the two sunken areas where we plonk our bums and the fabric has had a steam clean too, not that it really needed it.
I don't know if it's a long-term fix, only time will tell.
