Its funny how things change over time, through the 80,s up till 2000 you could not pass a outfit on the road without seeing a wind deflecting wing bolted to the roof of the towing car, the idea seemed to be copied from the very successful commercial vehicle designed roof mounted windbreakers which increased M.P.G., trailer stability, decreased the drag factor and inevitably improved engine wear. These days you never see them on caravan outfits, so why have all these benefits seemed to be dropped by the vanning fraternity? I just don,t see them anymore.

I've asked this question myself from my dealer. His answer was that caravan design has improved aerodynamics some what plus it was very hit and miss with the alignment of the deflectors. They needed to be set as far back as possible but the angle was obviously guess work.

What i used to love, living in holiday prone North wales, is the bloke with his wind deflector who blots it on to drive the 100 miles or so from Brum. then leaves it on all week / fortnight whilst be clocks up hundreds of miles driving solo [holding me up!]

Also a plea [to the same bloke]......

Take your mirrors off after you've unhitched, the roads here are narrow enough!
