Hi Stephen, I don't think the AA guarantee to tow your van away as well as the car. For that reason I think a lot of caravanners go with Green Flag who do guarantee to take the van as well as the car.

122 quid per year and they WILL recover the van if the tow car is immobilised ie dammaged or broke down, but not if it is a van only problem so if a van wheel bearing tow hitch went, tough,

I had been with them over 20 years but changed to green flag premium from the CC this year it cost

I would severly check the wording in your "7 Star" cover from this firm, and soon after checking get back to Green Flag. Did you get a book covering every detail?

Checked the cover with the AA, separate number to ring cleared everything with them before l cancelled Green Flag.

What are you trying to say here Trevor that Discover are not valid with the seven star cover, from these posts you must have had one big ding Dong with Discover so why didn't you take them to court lots of advise on this forum on how to do it.

But seems to me all you are bent on is scare mongering, like said if l have problems with them my first course of action is with them once that has failed l will re think my options.

Plenty of people out their that have bought from discover, lets here from them either way, the good and the bad, maybe that way will get a true picture.

I believe that the AA, RAC and Green Flag will recover caravans if they are broke/damaged whilst on the highway. However there is both a weight and length restriction with them and if the van is too long/heavy they will require larger breakdown vehicles and charge an excess to recover the caravan. As a caravan is not classed as a motor vehicle the recovery vehicle will require a carriers licence to transport the caravan.

I am a member of the RAC through the C&CC and they will transport any weight/length with no extra charge. I swapped to the RAC as a result of a dispute with Green Flag a few years ago for the relay of my van back home after it was rendered unroadworthy as the reult of an accident in Warminster.

hi all.

it seems to me like both the AA and RAC will recover the van provided the cover has been obtained from a scource that deals with vans ie dealers and clubs by special arrangment, because this option is definitly not available to ordinary members it clearly states in the handbook that a trailer will only be recovered if the towing vehicle is disabled,
