I've just bought the above, It was sold with water ingress.

The front is damp arround the window and top front corners. The wall board is disintergrating and I expect the frame work has gone too.

I dont mind doing the repair after the summer holidays have ended but I dont know where to get the wallboard, furniture board or window seal.

This is my first caravan, so I'll be learning as I go. I have renovated cars, motorbikes and houses in the past, so I'm fairly practical.

Any ideas? where to go for spares? books etc?

(ps. good web sight)

Thanks

Steve,

You can get wallboards from http://www.caravanparts.net/wallboards.htm

and they also sell windows parts.

You can get other parts from http://www.caravanpartsonline.co.uk/ including the butyl mastic sealant you'll need to make everythign water tight.

Oh - if you need to repair any of the furniture - don't use chipboard - it'll suck up water vapour like a sponge. Exterior grade light weight beech plywood is a good choice.

Hi Steve

I bought a Jubilee Rallyman earlier this year which suffers the same problem as your Envoy and is probably of similar construction. I'm in the process of rebuilding the front end as most of the structural timbers had rotted due to rail seals failing.

After initially spending some time trying to get at things from the inside, I soon came to the conclusion that the van had been built from the "inside-out", so the best solution was to completely remove the front plastic moulding. When you strip down your van, take lots of photos and make sketches for future reference, and don't throw any timbers away so that you'll have a pattern for remaking new ones.

You'll find that most of the framework is joined using staples (hundreds of the blighters!!) but to make a proper job I've drilled and dowelled the new timbers; time consuming and requiring some degree of accuracy but well worth the extra effort! To keep costs down the new sections of wallboards (3mm ply) were bought from a timber merchant, the finish doesn't exactly match the original but as I'm going to "wallpaper" afterwards, this doesn't matter.

If you'd like any further tips please get in touch and I'll try to help. Good luck with yours!

John
