Additional 12v lights (round 2)

I noted in a recent thread (http://www.practicalcaravan.com/newforums/fm_messages.asp?fo=1&fm=286331) that one can buy 12v lights from Carvanparts.net. I want to add another light to our sink area. Currently, there is but a single fluorescent light over the gas hob but nothing over the sink. Ideally I'd like something brighter but, for compatibility and ease of installation, I am happy to have a similar unit. Would this be the sort of thing please?

Thanks (what's the betting that Robert answers first !)

John

PS anyone know how one can insert links into this forum as opposed to just the (text) URLs? (I accept that this has nothing whosoever to do with caravanning !)

Hi John,

I am working in Rotterdam this week, so I don't have an Internet window open all the time.

Fluorescent lights use only a fraction of the current used by halogen spots, so you won't overload the existing 12V wiring by adding a duplicate fluorescent strip

Caravan manufacturers tend to use the same electrical components across a wide range quite often.

You'll find largest top of the range vans with an abudance of lights runs the same supply and wiring as a smaller van in the range so you are unlikely to have any problems especially with 12 volt flourescent lights. Halogens get hot and have covers over them inside lockers, make sure you do the same if you self fit.
