We have not actually stopped on the site but did visit about 4 years ago when we stopped at the Orchards site in the Caravan Club book. We went in September time and to be honest would have preferred to stop at Adgestone. It is nicely laid out with grass pitches, good play areas for children and the outdoor pool was warm. Access is via a narrow lane after passing through a housing estate however you are close to Sandown which is a nice holiday resort.

David, Adgestone is a very nice site, providing the weather is good.

This summer it was flooded out and many pitches ruined, hopefully will be ready for next year.

Access is as has been said, a very narrow lane, whichever way you approach it.

The original owners of Adgestone have just opened a brand new site near Ryde, on the main road, great access, quiet site, but then Tesco is only 2 mins down the road, Ryde 3 mins, and the other way, Sandown and Shanklin etc.

Living on the Isle of Wight I have used Adgestone many times. As already been said it does get muddy in wet periods and if going to the site follow the instructions in the book not sat nav you will end up in some tight places. That being said it is a good site.

Whitefield Forest opened at the beginning of the year and is a good site set in amongst the trees and will improve as it matures, we are already booked in for next year.

Another good site is Southlands at Newchurch which has good ammenities, not far from the beach and shops.

Other camp sites can be found on the local tourist board web site www.islandbreaks.co.uk nowhere is far on the island, half an hour ride in any direction can give very contrasting scenery.Hope this is of use.
