I have just bought a car that is fitted with a binkmatic detachable swan neck towbar.I also have a bulldog 200Q stabiliser bar but obviously the original plate is no longer any good to me.I went to a dealership the other day to buy a suitable plate and came up with the bulldog LC 8 The sales person told me that this was not a safe option as they had a tendency to work loose and eventually fall off.He then tried to sell me an alternative for £288.I rang Bulldog and they were none too pleased stating that this was a load of rubbish.

Is there a keen caravanner out there that could give me an unbiased opinion as to whether this is a good option.Thank you.

This has come up a few times recently, Anthony.

I had (have?) an LC8 bracket fitted to my Bosal detachable bar and it never budged, not once, not one millimetre.

I`m not saying it wouldn`t have over time, as that is something I can`t answer. All I can tell you is that it was a genuine Bulldog part, fitted correctly, and did exactly what it was supposed to for SEVEN years. So perhaps, in time it would have moved, depend how long you intend on keeping your car.

For a `sales person`to suggest it would fall off renders him/her a complete prat I`m afraid, as as it is held on with substantial `Nylok`nuts and bolts and a securing grub screw, you are more likely to lose a wheel on your car.

I only took it off as I got a new van, and would hve no problems using one again, if the need arose.
