i am thinking of buying complete satellite kit triax 88cm dish from aerial shack ,if the tripod is a konig make would it be allright,we want it to go to france june 1,any help would be appreciated THANK YOU ALAN P/T
HI TINA,thank you for your advice,i will give a go i order it. thanks again ALAN P/TUp until recently we had a konig tripod and it worked really well as it gives a complete range of motion. Sadly it broke and we had to buy another brand as we were away and could not find a konig for immediate collection. Husband has canibalised the konig for bits to put on the new one for better swivel.
If I could find another konig I would chose it everytime.
Pedant time again.....Hi C&A,
No, no, not the shopping chain....
Seriously; I bought a sat kit from Melksham Satellites a couple of years ago and haven't looked back since. I can set this thing up in about 3 to 5 mins. The kit I bought included a dish, receiver (Sky), sat-finder meter, compass, cables etc. Most useful was a map of the British Isles showing latitude and elevation grid. one thing however, is that to get all the channels that I normally get at home I have to take my Sky box with me (not the one I got with the kit). Apparently your Sky card and Sky box are matched and if they aren't used together then you don't get all the channels.
As far as france is concerned, I have asked them if they have an equivalent map for France -- I let you know the outcome.
Regardless of that, there is a page on their website where you can 'point' on a map and it gives you the latitude and elevation settings; this means however that you need to know where you are going to be.
melksham website is: http://www.satelliteonline.co.uk/
One interesting page on their website is: http://www.satelliteonline.co.uk/portable_satellite_dish.htm
there's a link on there and i'm bu**ered if I can find it right now, but here's the URL: http://www.satsig.net/maps/lat-long-finder.htm This will allow you to find latitude nd elevation settings if you click on the map.
look for portable sat dishes and/or touring links. if you need further info I can help.
Cheers,
trevor
