Advice on travelling through Axminster

To get to my holiday site i need to pass through Axminster travelling from Chard on the A358,not sure whether to stay on the A358 through town centre or divert left on the edge of town on to a road called Stoney lane then on to B3261 up to A35 then join that and then pick up A358 the other side of Axminster to carry on my journey towards Musbury,my wife tows at which she is very good but did not want to panic her.

Stoney Lane looks a bit narrow on Google maps street view if there is parked cars on it.

I would drive through Axminster.

While I don't think Stoney Lane will be a problem, it is a longer route and will mean you having to turn right across 2 lanes of traffic to get on to the A35 (which can be very busy) and then turning right, across the traffic, to get back on to the A358.

The actual centre of Axminster is only small and the roads are wide and the A358, going this way, goes under the A35 so it really is the easier route.

You shouldn't find any problem towing through the town. I towed that way last year on the way to Charmouth.
