We have just ordered our first caravan (Lunar Stellar) and are considering having a motor mover fitted.

Are there any significant differences between the makes? Does anyone have any advice on makes to avoid or those to consider?

Thanks.

Pete.

Peter, if you search back postings you will find probably hundreds of contributions on this topic.

From personal experience a mover is very much worth having, particularly if you have difficult parking access at home, go onto European sites much or are not as young as you used to be - or any of the above. They are also quite good for avoiding "domestics"

Again personally I have and would recommend Powrtouch but you will read others who swear by Riech / Truma or others. Look at the warranties as well as the base purchase price. Fitting yourself is not too difficult if you are reasonably DIY handy - this way you know how the job has been done and where everything is, and save yourself

Peter,

We are now on our third Powrtouch mover and find the company's aftersales backup second to none. A fitter was sent to a caravan site we were staying on in a matter of hours and sorted our small problem out. Maybe not the cheapest mover on the market but works very well. I hear they will now price match.

We had a Powrtouch fitted to our caravan a year ago. We find it absolutely brilliant and worth every penny. Powrtouch are a great company and their customer service is top notch.

The website has full details of their movers and they are more than happy to give advice and answer your queries over the phone.

As James mentions, they have a network of fitters and if you have a problem, they will send the nearest fitter out, even if you are away on site.

Thanks Ray, James and Meals on wheels. Looks like it's Powrtouch 3; others nil.

We fit both of Ray's criteria - not young and with difficult access at home so we think we'll go ahead and order Powrtouch.

Thanks for your help,

Pete.

Hi Pete

Dad in Law has a Truma. He lost a roller on the way to Ullapool. One phone call and next day a new roller and circlip arrived by special post at our Ullapool site, all the way from Derby. Not bad and it does the job.

Personally I have the Powrtouch, better priced and I liked the five guarantee.

Cheers
