Hi folks.

I have discovered there is a leak into the van from inside the telescopic pipe of the aerial (directional Status). I have been up and checked the sealant on the plastic plate and all looks well. How does the water get into the inside of the telescopic pipe??
I have read some old posts on this same subject but couldn't get an answer to the problem.

Can anyone help please??

There is a rubber gland seal at the top of the aerial tube which has probably dried out somewhat.
If you raise the aerial and put a liberal squirt of silicone lubricant around the extended tube it may solve th eproblem, other than that it is replacing the seal.
Seals are available from Grade.

Thanks for that,

Is the rubber gland seal you mention a big black thing that looks a bit pear shaped? Is that the thing I would have to ask Grade for if it needs replaced??

Yes, it comes as a complete unit item at around £19.95 I think.

Found the link: http://www.visionplus.co.uk/shop/status-530-540-gaiter-inc-foot-sleve-.html

If the seal had gone or leaking you would get water coming down the outside of the tube not the inside.
In cold weather alot of condensation collects on the aluminimum pole inside the van.
I noticed my aerial looked like it wasnt sealed and took in down and yes it was full of water, i took it apart and resealed it back together.
As the cable runs down the middle of the tube this could lead to water in the middle of the tube?

Do you travel with the aerial pointing towards the front of your caravan?
My dealer showed me in the instructions that it should be pointing to the rear of your van, the reason being that the Status acts as a wing when pointing towards the front of your van & will try to take off thus damaging the seal on the roof causing it to leak.
