It seems many sites owners are afraid to use technology to boost their occupancy and maybe thsi is something that PC can take up.

How often have you emaile a site, waited for a response which was never forthcoming and then eventually either given up and gone somewhere else or have eventually phoned the site.

At the very least you would think thast the warden / site owner would check their emails every couple of days even when the site is closed.

In the current recession you would think that they woudl be falling over themselves to get extra business in especially as many people will be taking their holidays local.

Have you experienced the "no reply" syndrome on your emails to site owners?

Same problem experienced here. As we're both at work all day, we find it difficult to telephone during the day and we're usually really busy running the taxi serviec of Mum and Dad at weekends so e-mail is the best form of contact for us. If sites don't want to answer by email, they shouldn't give an email address for contact.

Caravan manufacturers are not much quicker at replying, and then, in my experience, they tell you a complete lot of rubbish! I find the best one's at replying quickly, are the 5 van sites.

We have found more and more of our visitors are using E-Mail for bookings. we try to answer by return only to hear nothing back to confirm any bookings. we now use a add-on I think its called that requires the receiver to reply so we are aware our mail has been opened. I would recommend this as a good aid.

Thankyou David

2 of the sites were in Norfolk (1 replied and requested a home telephone number as confirmation, 1 hasn't replied), but perhaps I should have tried Suffolk instead!!!

Hi Everyone

It's not just caravan site owners / wardens who don't look at emails. I send out a newsletter every couple of months to around 400 people and am astounded by the number that complain that they have missed events because they didn't know about it BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T LOOK AT THEIR EMAILS.

The longest period, so far, that I know about between sending it and being read is almost three months ! Do these people leave letters on their door mat for this length of time ?

I actually work in It and in my opinion, its still too early to rely solely on it.

How many times have you had a 'conversation' by email that by the time you have sent it back a few times you think 'I could have sorted this in 60 seconds with a phone call.

Regards

I quite enjoy sending people a copy of an e-mail they say they never received along with a return receipt that confirms the recipient has opened it.

I think you'll find many people partcularly in larger companies send info via e-mail as there is a lack of trust when discussing company business over the phone, people suffer from denial on occassion.

I tend to phone sites as waiting a response to a booking request can lead to missing an available place on perhaps a second choice site. Still there has been times when phones are not answered and messages not returned.
