We've recently become caravanners and have toured europe extensively. We've found that at night, particularly, it can be oppressively hot in our caravan; have you ever included a comparative study of air-conditioners suitable for caravans? If not, can I suggest that you make this the subject of a future article for your magazine? I suggest that the critieria include noise (dB) , cost, cooling efficiency, power-to-ampage commonly available on caravan sites, ease of use, portability, size, weight and durability (incl guarantee period). This is not an exhautive list but covers the main points. Regards Tony Copage.

Tony,

This would be a good topic for inclusion in some future edition of the mag.

We recently purchased a (well known brand) Air Con unit for an up and coming trip to France and were verbally assured that it was "whisper quiet" in it's operation.

We tried it out in the Lakes on a warm & sticky night in May, and although I managed to sleep through the noise on it's lowest speed setting, my better half didn't didn't fare so well.

I certainly wouldn't describe it as "whisper quiet", It was however, barely noticeable from outside the van.

It would have been good to have been able to make comparisons with other units, especially with internal and external noise

levels.

Ken.
