Hi

I am trying to buy a Alko spare wheel carrier but am having trouble via the usual channels, I require part number 1556159, all I can seem to find is ones with model number KBA90034. I have contacted ALKO for advise and if they could cross reference but have had no reply. Could someone please advise if this would fit my van.

Many thanks

Hi Dave

Please tell us the make model and year of your caravan.
The first number you quote features on this link http://www.al-ko.co.uk/edit/files/swc/which-swc-suits-rev1.pdf

The last number you quote I couldn't find anything. Note the first number was issued early 2013 so I imagine it is pretty well upto date and compatible with most Al-ko chassis.

Hi Dusty

Our van is a 2015 Swift Challenger Sport 584, I have measured the chassis as per ALKO site and found the part number. However when you look on ebay and the model as on the frame is KBA90034. I have searched high and low trying to cross reference and to no avail. I really don't have the finances to go and buy a new carrier hence trying to locate one elsewhere.

A word of caution - I had an AL-KO carrier on my van from new. However I needed to jack up the van to get the wheel out of the carrier as there was not enough room under the chassis, so I took the carrier off and now put the wheel just inside the doorway when travelling. It gets put under the van when on site.

Oh I miss my previous Avondale which had the wheel inside the door in a well.

Hi Woodland

I have read all the horror stories about people not being able to remove the spare wheel for one reason or another but not keen on the idea of having it in the van and i have set of on trips and forgotten to put it in the boot, feel it is better all round slung underneath the van

Sorry Dave.
I guess you need to speak to Al-ko although I appreciate they are ignoring you.
Have you tried speaking to Swift or posting on Swift Talk.

.......always carry plastic levelling ramps or wooden blocks.
You can then tow the caravan forward onto the ramps or blocks to raise the caravan enough to be able to remove the spare wheel carrier.
Especially important if you have a flat which will lower the caravan further and may prevent you having enough clearance to place your jack corectly

Hi Firkle
Dave's problem is the ones on ebay have the reference
KBA 90034. The link you quote , like I did, relates to models made after 2013.
Are they all the same and will the ebay ones fit his Swift? I don't know but well done to you for trying.
