Al-Ko Stabiliser

difficult without seeing it but it sounds like the pads are worn down and they are not clamping tightly enough on the ball

you can put the special alko washers behind the pads to bring them out a bit, a good local dealer should not charge you anything to check it for you

This is a known problem, it's caused by the handrake lever contacting the stabiliser arm and flipping it up when the over-run compresses. The cure is to slightly bend (SLIGHTLY)the handbrake handle outwards so that it clears the stabiliser handle - see the AL-KO FAQ

http://www.al-ko.co.uk/faqs_detail.asp?id=1474
you'll also note that sometimes it can flip the handbrake handle upwards - the cure is the same, bend the handbrake handle.
