I have a 2016 Coachman Pastiche 575 and would like to change the heating fluid as I do not think it has been done since new. But I cannot find a drain plug for the system. There is a Youtube video for another make of caravan showing a drain plug but not on mine. I can break a line and use my vax as I do on radiators in the house. Any advice will be appreciated.

There will be a drain plug under the van with , I believe, a red bung which is held in place by a jubilee clip.
It is not immediately obvious as it is just a pipe sticking out roughly in line with the boiler.

It is not a good idea to start disconnecting internal pipework !!!

TBH, it's not an easy task. Surely, for the price of having it done by a professional, its not worth doing it yourself. I watched it being done last year, on our previous caravan, and it's not something I would have attempted. I've installed many domestic central heating systems so I do have a bit of experience.

I think Alde also recommend refilling with some sort of special pump. Check the handbook.

Have to say i am with Damian on this one, its not a job I would be in a rush to DIY.

Gravity draining is not simply a matter of releasing the drain plug, a significant percentage of fluid can be retained in the rise and falls inherent in the pipework..
I have done mine twice in the past and flushed through with deionised water as a route to purging the hung up remnants of the old stuff; all a bit time consuming but otherwise not too challenging.
I t is important to really know where all the bleed points are and how you can access them., otherwise you could be left with air locking.

I am due to do it all again this winter, but have acquired a spare Surflo pump to make purging though, both the old stuff and most of the air a bit less tedious.
I used and will reuse Comma's GG40 a product fully approved to VW's G13 specification.
