I have to disagree with the above, i have the 3010 Alde boiler and the answer is no you cant have the central heating on and no hot water unless the hot water tank is empty, you can have the other way round ie hot water and no central heating, but the temp has to be set for very low so it doesnt kick in.

Yes...You can operate the heating without having hot water. If you wish to use gas ,simply set the Gas setting and Temperature required.on your control panel ....If using electricity hook-up,do NOT switch the water heater switch "on"...(in the Bailey it is on the wall adjacent to the sink.... Again heating only provided.... .jimmy

"If you wish to use gas ,simply set the Gas setting and Temperature required.on your control panel "

Switching to gas will still turn the boiler on which provides central heating and hot water.
The switch in the Bailey is mains electric to the boiler.( with this turned off you will also pump cold fluid around the radiators as well as no hot water)
The Alde does not have an independent water heater.
The Boiler is made up of a central core which houses the gas burner which heats the glycol fluid which is in the cylinder surrounding the burner, enclosed in this glycol fluid cylinder are your electric heating elements.
Around this cylinder is the hot water tank.
The pump will pump the hot glycol around the radiators if the room is warm enough the pump will stop( the hot water will stay at a constant 50C),as the water is enclosed around the burner and electric elements you cannot turn the hot water off unless its empty.

I have never found a way to have heating and no hot water except by draining down the hot water system and leaving the water pump turned off. However I can not really see the point in not heating up the water as it uses so little extra energy and I'm not into washing up in cold water, that is unless you want to use the Alde system to keep some background warmth in the caravan when you are not using it.

If water is in the Alde and the Adle is 'on' the water gets hot.
If you dont open a hot tap you dont get any of that hot water out of the Alde. So in that sense you dont have to 'have' hot water, simply leave it where it is.
If there is no water in the Alde then it can still be put 'on' and if you set the required room temperature above the actual room temperature the heating will work.
