Alde water based heating

Has anyone got this heating system & your comments regarding efficiency please. What are the Pros & Cons against the 'blown air type?

Hi,

We had the Alde system in our last van, and miss it in this one.

We felt the advantages were; a single heater rather than heater and water heater, the system is programable like domestic heating so we just left it on with the typical chnages of daily use set in, but can be overriden, it does heat the whole van where as we feel that with blown air by the time it gets to the ends of our long van it has gone cold (so we tend not to use the blower bit).

Down side: it takes longer to heat the van up from cold and if it goes wrong (once in 5 years) you lose heater and hot water.

We would go back to it if we had a choice of similar vans with/without this heating.

Gooner,

The Alde system is excellent - just like domestic home central heating, with boiler, room thermostat, radiators, and towel rail. Amazingly efficient considering all the rads are behind furnishings. There is an all round warmth even in sub-zero conditions, let alone cold nights

I've never had any servicing trouble (with two vans) and, in any event there are plenty of service/repair agents.

You will find that generally the system is only fitted to top-of-the range vans, boats, etc - enough said...!

If you haven't already done so, see http://www.alde.co.uk/

It's just brilliant,

Braemar a foot of snow, then -12oC and it was so snug. I can't believe how efficient it is, would recommend it 100% percent.

Thanks guys, replies much appreciated and you've really confirmed my thoughts on the system, but it's good to have feedback from previous users.

Seriously considering upgrading to the Sterling Elite Searcher which has the system and just exploring the pros & cons before splashing out the hard-earned necessary!

Thanks once again. Gooner.
