Alde water heater problems in sterling elite

i recently purchased a sterling eliter searcher, which has been brilliant apart from the Alde 3010 heating system.

First i had problems with an error saying "serial". This was due to a bad electrical connection. I resolved the problem eventually but it meant we had no heating or hot water in the van during a cold weekend. Then when the system was working only 2 of the rads become warm, probably due to an air lock somewhere. I bleed the 3 points that i can find. This improved it slightly but not the rads at the end of the run. Also the circulation pump was very noisy. I assumed that this was because the level had dropped slight in the expansion tank after i bled the system. To resolve this i topped it up to just above the minimum.

I now have a new problem, where the control panel is set for the heating to be on. It shows that the circulation pump is on, but it isn't. Which means that we have no heating again.

Can anyone help with this new problem?

The circ-pump logo can come on with a defective pump; its only indicating its being told to come on.

I assume you are setting the required temp high enough as you have the logo.

I would first pull off a pump connector and see if its getting volts from the wires. That way we know if its a supply side problem or simply a duff pump [might just be sticky?]

Who ever last serviced the system made a hash of bleeding it properly. If one of your bleeders is at the furthest end of the van retry bleeding with this bleeder as high as possible by tilting the van [using a steep hill or the nose-wheel or both] to really get the van absurdly tilted. You need the pump working first of course.

I forgot to warn you of the obvious that tilting your van on a slope has hazard implications if you don't very securely chock it from running away. You might also need the wife to sit on the hitch if the extreme end bleeder is at the rear, see-saw thing.

Just be careful.
