Torque wrench including extension bar (adjust torque setting appropriately when using extension bars) and 17mm,19mm and 21mm sockets.

John, If the extension bar is between the torque wrench and the socket, there is no need to change the torque wrench setting.

But when you are using an extension like this , you need to calculate the extra length.

Thanks for this Hutch, I did think that an extension bar (not an inline one as per your illustration) required a torque setting adjustment, happy to be correctedenlightened .

I will amend my initial post to reflect what you have stated.

I did a quick google and found this (see video) I have now learned that I can increase the torque range of a torque wrench by using a simple formula and an inline extension.

Can I pick your brains a little further Hutch?

1. Do you agree with the formula used in the video (it would appear that incorrect formula information has been posted on the net).

Yes that video is very confusing, except for the last formula. Which is the one I have always used when needed,
There is the fourth type of torque loading where you get to a set torque then stretch the bolt by a certain angular measurement,

I got one of these last time they were on offer. Basically its complete garbage, but you get what you pay for. Ill stick with a calibrated Teng I think.
