can you use the hitchlock that comes with the above package whilst you are actually towing, or if you stop off on a journey will i need to put it on and remove it again afterwards, many thanks.
 
If it is the Alko one then it is designed to be used while towing as well as while on site. Just remember to put the red ball somewhere you will find it.
 
The police say you should leave hitchlocks off whilst towing in case you are involved in an accident and they need to remove the caravan from the vehicle quickly.

Of course put the lock back on when you are parked to avoid theft.

if you search under "Eddie" Dated 11-10-2005 you will see my reply to a similar question. I have been abroad for quite some time and there now appears to be another Eddie with a very similar profile to mine!!
