ALKO stabiliser and matt black tow bar

Having collected a new van and towed it 150 miles we then read you are supposed to clean a matt black tow bar before use. What should we use although part of it has already been rubbed off.

Are you reffering to the Towbar or Tow ball? If it is black paint on the ball then you should remove this with very fine emery paper to avoid contaminating the Stabilizer

Thanks yes it is the tow ball - you can tell we are new to all of this!

You'll also need to remove the friction pads from the hitch and clean them with meths as they will now be contaminated.
