Alko stableiser friction pad replacement

is there anyone out there, there was no metal shims with the new ones but there was with the one that snapped off , do i reuse the original shims or discard them
 
Having got the old pads out, it is possible you may not need the shims for th new one, but keep them untilyou have tried the new ones, and if they do not grasp tightly as they should, put a shim in to correct it.
