ALKO suspension

I am new to caravans (recently escaped from camping)and have just purchased an old Swift Cornich (approx 20 years old).

Van is in exlellent condition apart from the fact that it leans slightly to one side.

I understand that the suspension system uses rubber bushes which compress and return as required.

Is it possible that the bushes could be worn on one side, if so can they be replaced or would i be looking at a more costly repair, or should i just live with it for the remaining years the van has to offer.

Yes it is very likely and I would want to do something about it as it could effect towing stability.

Suggest you try here ( http://www.al-ko.co.uk/index.htm ) and give them a call and get advice form the horses mouth!

It may be that only a new axle will remedy the problem as Alko may bo longer have parts for that age of axle. Up to you then to decide how much you spend.

Hi David, Yes if it is an Alko Axle it is possible to replace the rubber torsion, it requires the axle to be remove and returned to Alko for repair, this work has to be fitted in with there normal production schedule so there can be an extended wait. As Euro suggests it's as well to contact Alko direct.

Just what I thought (Right time of year)

It would be interesting to let others know how you get on if you have the work done. So update here later please.
