My recently purchased caravan came complete with a (factory supplied) Alko Wheel Lock. The caravan was not new, and the card with the serial numer has been lost. My new insurers require that the Wheel Lock be registered with Alko. Is the number on any other part of the assembly? Anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks

If the security number card was lost during your ownership, the previous owner should have deregistered the lock with Al-KO. At least this is the normal procedure before a new owner can register the lock. I have found AL-KO very helpful and suggest you phone them on 01926 818669. If all else fails you may be able to purchase a new lock barrel and keys. Good luck.

Even if you were to purchase a new lock you will find that you will not be able to register them against your CRiS reg number on the AlKo database as their system does not allow for duplicate CRiS numbers. The previous owner needs to de-register the old lock. If he can do this (online) you should also get the serial number of the lock which they purposely don't stamp on the lock.
Otherwise, you will need to somehow prove to Alko that you are indeed the rightful owner of your van and this may not be easy even if you have the CRiS documents. Your best bet is to employ the help of a recognised AlKo dealer who will confirm to AlKo that all is legitimate and they will then put your name against the CRiS reg on their database.

New keys or complete locks can be purchased online, but if you can't obtain the serial number for the lock your chances of getting a key are zero. At least new barrel locks are not too expensive at about £30 (with keys) I recall. (keys separately are £5 each) Items are sent out by Lowe and Fletcher who access AlKo's database.

Thanks for the replies.

I contacted Alko. Told they do not supply new barrel locks, so new unit (£200+) or ........

Web site does give details of how to have registration reasigned, but number must be known. Web site more helpful than phone.

Contacted dealer, who checked their files. Appears they had omitted to pass the details on to me. Have now received these and successfully completed registration with Alko. Now eligable for extra discount on insurance!

Their response was clearly incorrect as I purchased two keys from them to fit my barrel locks but could have had the complete lock if required. Alan Sanders is the man in charge and he was most helpful in getting my finance reposessed van registered in my name as the registered owner could not be contacted.
It stands to reason that if your barrel lock becomes u/s, or the funny shaped drive bolt becomes worn, that you can buy individual replacements without buying the whole kit for £200. The request-a-key web page has had the prices removed from when I last saw it.
Anyway, glad you're sorted.
