I have just hooked up the car to the caravan ready for our trip tomorrow morning
The reason I have done it now is so I can connect the power lead to the car and leave it for 12 hours to wipe the memory clear on the ALKO trailer control
However instead of having a constant green light I have a flashing green like it has been like that for 30 minutes now will it still wipe the memory clear when flashing and not constant

Regards

John

Hello John,

I cant answer your question, Perhpase someone else can, but for accurate information on a highly technical nature such as yours I am sure you should be talking to to either your ALKO dealer or ALKO themselves.

You are dealing with a piece of safety equipment, and heaven forbid that you do something that may compromise its operation.

The reason the ATC is flashing Green is that it has not been able to complete its "pre flight" check and is waiting to detect forward movement.
So, at the moment, the Self Test is incomplete and you need to move the van forward a few metres and it should complete the test and go solid Green.

I fail to understand what you are hoping to do by leaving it connected for 12 hours?

The ATC self recalibrates after 30 minutes of normal driving or a few minutes at a very slow speed , i.e.10mph

Wil it clear the memory,,,,No it will not and you are wasting your time leaving it connected for 12 hours.

The reasonm for leaving it connected for 12 hours is ALKO say if you leave it connected for 12 hours it will wipe the memory clean.
If the memory is full for any reason then it goes to red and will not work.
That is the only reason I am doing it on the advice of ALKO to clear the system memory

The memory for minor errors clears itself, major errors are NOT cleared and after a pre set number, which I cannot recall how many off hand but think it is 12, the unit has to be reset by an Al-Ko technician with the software to do it.

I'm missing something here.

I've had my ATC three years. Plug in the 12s , the ATC cycles and on comes the green light which is still on at journey's end.
How do I know I need to reset???

Dustydog, that is the point, you do NOT have to reset, it does it itself, unless there are major errors, in which case it will lock out and only Al-Ko can reset it.

Download the Alko ATC Manual from their web site. You will find it suggests plugging in for 12 hours if memory is full. (Small print hard to find). It also says flashing green is OK to drive. When I picked up my Pegasus from 1st service recently, plugging in I had a flashing green light. The service manager said when that happens apply and release hand brake two or three times. It cleared it to solid green straight away.
