another question re fitting ALKO shocks

I am about to buy & fitt the above to my van that is fitted with a mk 1 powrtouch move. I have heard that this mover poses problems & has to be moved to the back of the wheels, involving doing away with the spare wheel carrier.is this correct?

Tony,

You may not have to move the mover but I believe someone is doing a kit to move the wheel carrier further back and thus retain it.(It may even be Powrtouch themselves).

Regards Jim.

I also have a Mk 1 Powrtouch fitted to my Jubilee Envoy (2007)and was told by Powrtouch that I would not be able to fit shock absorbers. I can not really see the reason why, because according to the Alko Specs and Technical data the space required in Fig 5(a) for dimesion D is 52 - 75 mm. I have measured the distance between the chassis and the Powrtouch and have 73 mm available. Could someone tell me the exact dimensions of the shocks please, becaus I do not want to order them and then find there really is not enough room. Many thanks!

Thank you for your reply's I'm still in a dilema as I am picking them up tommorow & do not have time to contact Powrtouch & as dorsetfly says I also have 70mm between mover & chassis as required according to Alko tech data

Thanks td

If I remember correctly, I think that Powrtouch made more than one version of the Mk1 Mover. I think that they made one called a Euro model, with a seperate gear box, that would allow space to fit Alko Shocks.

Can you fit the shocks on a Ace Firestar with a Truma s mover fitted in front of the wheels, as l am interest in going down this road.

NGH

you should be ok with the Truma S, we have a Truma Mover fitted in front of the wheels and have fitted shocks on our Sterling.
