I have all the discount I can have from my insurance company. I am looking for a run of the mill alarm to install in my caravan just to protect the contents on any site. It only needs to really protect the door as I don't think anyone would have the balls to go to that much trouble on a site. Anyone have any ideas?

I am still looking for an alarm for my caravan. I dont want one with a Motion sensor because I have had to many problems with false alarms due to high winds. All I want is a door switch. Its only for use when we are on any sites to stop the chance of anyone opening the door to steal our stuff. I have asked on here on the off chance someone has used a certain make and model, and are happy that they have had no false alarms.

Hi Tugster, We haven't yet had a false alarm with ours as the motion sensor is InfraRed so it will only respond to the heat of the body of someone inside the van - totally immune from wind etc. One of the reasons I liked this one was the fact that it has a second external sounder which will operate if the wire to it are cut and the remote key fob arm/disarm trigger.

As I said, have a look in B&Q coz they sell basic door/window alarms as well, some with keypads and some with keyfob type remotes. Another firm is Maplins (www.maplin.co.uk), if you haven't got one near you, they do mail order. At the NEC SAS security were doing a pack of six very basic door/window alarm units - sounder with integral magnetic switch for about
