Hi all,

Anyone been to the above site or heard anything about it ??

Apparently there is a steep access to the site but it looks ideal for what we want as it is right by the beach and ferry port.

First time also to France so how easy is it to navigate to from Cherbourg ??

Many Thanks

Ian

It's really easy from the port - about 15 minutes at the most, although you'd never know it because it's really quiet - almost at the end of a cul-de-sac road. We stayed there for two nights before our ferry home several years ago. It is steep, and terraced - pitches are big enough (most - but some are tight to access, but you shouldn't have any real problems) and level - some have a view over the beach. The beach is just across a bridge over the road - and is a mixture of sand and rock pools - loads of shells. Facilities are fine - good showers, bar and shop on site (limited stock - and bread and milk are delivered each morning so there may be a queue), staff speak English and are friendly. My sons won a pool competition in the bar - and got a great prize (forgot exactly what but they were really pleased with it). Shop on site, but several supermarkets nearby. Pizzeria on site. Nice restaurant just by the entrance to the site.

You're about an hour from Bayeux and the Normandy beaches. You're within driving distance of Mont St Michel, and many other interesting places.

The site takes Camping Cheques up till 24th June, and after 1st September.

I have not actually tried this site as we were put off by the comments regarding steep access and terraced pitches. An alternative for you to consider is Camping le Cormoran. A member of the sites and paysages chain. The site is about 40 mins from Cherbourg down the main A13 (Cherbourg to Caen road). The site is on Ravenouille Plage which is just up from Utah beach. The site is very level and thre is a road between the beach and the site entrance. We usually call at this site for a few nights after our sailing out and before our sailing back. There is a very good Super U with fuel station in St Mere Eglise.
