Has it been bumped at some time in the past ? that would possibly cause it to fracture....
if it had been bumped the whole light would be broke because the bottom light would hit before the top no other damage on the lights .

Yes, but because of the way the moulding is shaped you will have areas what are very strong and flex and don't mark, the split in your photo is on the edge of a corner,if there was sudden pressure along the back where the lights go it will shove up into the body, the edge where the crack is will try to splay outwards, you can see where someone has tried to fill the gap along the top with some sort of sealant. or it has has the pressure put just below the lip and that has caused the crack to show

Hello Jef,

The photo you have posted is not conclusive about the cause of the crack, but if this any indication of the rest of the caravan, then I seriously believe you are in danger of discrediting yourself and your position with your dealer and the manufacture.

Please check the replies on your other postings.

I strongly suggest you decline to post further details until after the matter is resolved with your dealer.

Hello Jeff,

First of I offer my apologies for missing off the second 'f' in your name in my earlier posts.

No you have not hit a sore point, and I do not wish to prevent caravanners from asking questions, but there are legal matters that you must be careful about.

For other forum users I have no connection what-so-ever with any of the companies or with Jeff so this is general advice.

In your case Jeff, I have noted (and I am sure others have as well) that you have posted a lot of similar related questions about your caravan, and in particular you are in the process of having some work done at a dealership, where you are questioning their professional opinion and methods.

This has all symptoms of a dispute, and that is matter that should not be aired on the forum for ethical and legal reasons, not least of which, if you continually publicise the problems that might be part of or related to a dispute, then it may be construed as trying to damage the company, even if that is not your intention. You have refrained from revealing the name of the companies involved (except for Swift as the manufacturer), however with the level of detail you have given it will not be difficult for any of the companies involved to identify your postings, and as many of your submissions are critical of companies they could use them as evidence of a defamatory campaign.

I should point out that the anonymity of your username on the public area of the forum will not protect you from a court order to the forum owner to reveal your details.

I am sure that many of us are interested in the outcome, and I for one hope the difficulties are sorted fairly, but it you will definitely be damaging your position if you continue to post about your caravan whilst your it is being assessed or repaired.

i would also want to say that caravan agents should not have access to this site as its a lot of messages that could cause a problem .most forum sites are made Private and stop this from happening ,its not my problem that private messages are read by all .and to be totally honest i have not done nothing wrong .with a forum any question can be asked anytime this should go no further than the forum and its a matter of free speech as long as things stay within the law .if i when through half the messages on this site a lot of messages would cause a problem .i don't think dealers should have access to this site because its like you said you got people on here looking at the messages, may be there should be a warnings before you sign up to tell others that you could be being watched .its pretty sad dealers can report back to base, a copyright should be put on here to protect this from happening to its members .and half the stuff on YouTube is about products of all kinds take the ps3 look how much stuff on YouTube and the xbox showing the red light of death yet these videos you can still view .yet Microsoft still say its nothing wrong with there consoles .so everyone be warned we are being watched by the unknown be careful what you say to people on here as you don't know who you are talking to ,because it could came back and bite you in the butt .

Jeff.

I am trying to offer you advice to keep you safe from becoming involved in an unfortunate situation that could easily arise because of your postings.

Its not just one posting or thread, its the number you have created about your caravan, coupled to the fact that in one you are openly calling the methods and conclusions of a dealer into question. The whole bulk of your postings could be taken the wrong way.

Factually you first named Swift in your post of 10 Feb 2010 06:59 PM. at the head of this thread about cracks around the light.

Perhaps you do not share my understanding of word the damage when used in these these circumstances. Please substitute the word "disadvantage" for "damage"

For your information, the PC forum is not a Private forum, it is very much a public forum, Its rather like a newspaper, and anyone can read its content quite legally. But you have to be registered to post on it.

Membership is not limited to individuals, there are many examples of companies registering and posting.

If you do not want your messages to be read by everyone, then you must not put them in the forum, you should direct them to the recipients you want in emails or via the Royal mail.

I have tried to be a friend and offer sensible advice to help prevent a situation between you and your dealer becoming nasty. I don't think I can do any more for you, its now up to you.

Ive had 4 new swift group vans and had 1 problem with stress cracks which was delt with swiftly and profesonaly

had a caravan brought to me only last week it was a aceaward night star had this problem it was where the screw holes are to tight for the screws . the back pannel as i stated is fixed over the back by screws mostley by the awning rail screws and the roof seem.not all vans are this way but had this info from a local dealer [swift] the stress crack can form from this.if you have big cracks in the back this could be a diffrent story.
