Anyone tow with a Vectra 3.0v6 diesel estate.?

Hello, Does anybody tow or has towed with a vauxhall vectra 3.0 v6 diesel estate.2003 - 2008
I would be intrested to know how it performed solo and whilst towing, pulling what weight weight of caravan.?

Is it an automatic, because earlier ones up to 2005 with the Y30DT engine have a very low maximum permissible towload of only 1200kg? The later Z30DT automatic was rated at 1500kg. Manual versions of both are more respectable. They may tow up to 1800kg.

Thanks Lutz, Its a manual Im looking at, and would be using it to tow my Lunar Quasar 546 (1440). I doubt there would be any problems power and torque wise, I would just be very intrested to hear any owners views.

I tow with an '06 reg 3.0v6 Signum. Same chassis, gearbox etc. Bags of power and torque. Tows effortlessly in 6th gear, never labours at all. Averaging 30mph towing 1330kgs. No stability issues, although I do inflate the rear tyres a bit. (make sure they are XL rated).

Take the caravan off the back and then the fun starts, it is very very quick.

im very suprised about the towing weights for an auto with a 3ltr........i have a 1.8ltr manual and the towing weight is 1800kgs
i would think that my car would weigh less than a car with a bigger engine and i would presume heavier gearbox

I think you've got your towing weight wrong, Hgv Dave.
An 1.8l manual of the 2003 to 2008 model series normally has a 1400kg towload limit, unless it is the post-2005 140hp version with a 4.19 final drive ratio in which case it may tow 1500kg (and even then only if it is not an estate car).
The only petrol engined Vectras with an 1800kg limit are the 2.8l Turbo and the 3.2l, and both only in estate car form (the corresponding saloons are rated at 1600kg).

im just going off what my handbook says
its a 05 plate 1.8 estate...........thing is that i dont tow with it,i tow with a 2ltr 130ps diesel mondeo which is 1.800kgs tow limit and when i bought the vectra i looked at the handbook and noticed that the towing weight was the same as the mondeo
i recently had a bmw 3m diesel while the mondeo was in for repair,i looked on the bmw website to look how much the car was worth (it was a 60 plate with 3000 miles on the clock,when new £29,000!!!) and the bmw was only allowed 1.700kgs towing weight

Was going to say are you sure about the Mondeo being able to tow 1800kg,but i looked on my v5c,and sure enough it does say that.
But if i recall correctly when looking at the plate on the door frame,some time back that i noticed it didn't add up!
Cannot recall why but when i feel the grey matter is working better,i will relook and see why i thought it couldnt tow 1800kg.

With the greatest of respects,you would do just as well with a 1.9cdti engined vectra rated at 150hp.Very little difference in engine output,far better on fuel,cheaper tax,parts supply a lot easier.We recently changed to a larger engined vehicle and believe me you do notice the difference in fuel economy(poorish).But nothing wrong with a 3.0v6(isuzu) vectra/signum.I have a fondess of them too.

In that case I would strongly suspect that there is a misprint in the handbook. Have a look at the VIN plate on the Vectra and check what it says there. I'm pretty sure you'll find it's only 1400kg.
