Hi Chris.

We spent just over 2 weeks this July/August at Camping Mondial, Vallon-Pont-d'Arc in the Ardeche before moving on to the Med. Fantastic site with all the usual Facilities (very strict on the use of proper swimming trunks in the pool).Quite a small site 240 pitches. Some of the best shower facilities we have come across!.The site has direct access to the river and canoes/equipment can be hired on site. The weather was really hot 40c+ on a few days however the pitches are shaded so not a problem.

The nearby market town was also good, found a first class butcher so lots bbq's. A must do place is the caves at Aven d,Orgnac absolutely fantastic viewing inside with guided tour. 770+ steps to descend but a very welcoming lift back to the top!!

We booked direct with the site on their website (Just put Mondial Camping into Google)

Hope this helps

Regards

We stayed at Les Ranchisses, just outside L'Argentiere, a couple of years ago.

Nice pool on site, and without a doubt the best Restaurant we have eaten in, in France.

It is a Castels site, so up to that usual standard.

No river on site, but there is a safe stream that is ok for kids.

Would recommend this place and would go back to it. Its about 25 miles from Pont D'Arc, but out of the busier areas which suited us, although the region is not as busy as some others (eg. Dordogne).

We booked through Carefree (CCC).

Hi,

If you are happy with a site with very few english on it which is right on the river and has a nice new pool the site we use is Le Riviera at Sampzon. www.guideweb.com/ardeche/camping/le-riviera or e-mail: leriviera@wanadoo.fr they have a whole range of activities organised during the main season, a good restaurant and are very helpful.

I'd recommend Ranc D'Avaine, which is on the Chassezac river (with access) and has the most fantastic pool complex, including an indoor pool for those (rare) cooler days. There's an excellent bar, restaurant and take-away. However, we've always been in May/June or late August/September, and I imagine the site gets very busy in mid-July to mid-August and may be a different kettle of fish! See the website for details http://www.camping-ranc-davaine.fr/
