Yes, this is a great TV; have used it for past 2 years. It can display digital TV v well using either a freeview box or a satellite receiver. I use a portable satellite which gives crystal clear pictures; although a wider screen would be nice :)

We know this posting is a few months old now so the price has changed but can any owners comments on the viewability of this TV please?

eg Viewing angles in caravan etc

We had a Wharfedale LCD/Freeview/DVD combi from Argos but returned it as the picture had a 'negative' effect unless you viewed it directly from the front (our son always nabbed the best spot so we were left with a rubbish picture!)

Now considering a freeview/DVD recorder combi and separate 15" LCD TV for the van as this will be more practical at home when the digital switchover happens.

Thanks in anticipation.

Narrow acceptable viewing angle is a problem with all LCD screens, although some are worse than others.

I haven't found an LCD with a wide enough viewing angle yet, at any price, so I'm still looking.

Rated viewing angles are deceptive - my ad-hoc tests show it's only acceptable for the central half of the manufacturers figure, ie if it's rated at 120 degrees it's only watchable at 60, which is +/- 30 either side.

Oh dear what does a "tv that runs on a 12v transformer so can use on vans 12v" mean.

Just bought our first caravan, and we'd planned to use our old run of the mill portable TV, I assumed this wouldnt be a problem.

No idea it runs on a 12v transformer or how to figure out if it does.

Basically the tv runs on 12v.As it is sold as a household tv they use a 240v/mains transformer to step down to 12v.If used in the van on non electric sites you can use the carvans 12v electric directly.

.

Gavin, its not a problem, assuming that you will be hooking up to the mains on site, then you can use your tv just like at home.

Please note the transformer needs to have a 12V DC output for it to run on your van battery, most do but worth checking.

The viewing angle problem only really relates to PC based screens so make sure you view before buying, I have to agree to disagree with RogerL on that one, I have a TV where it is a slight problem and 2 where there is no problem at all.

A point of information. It really should be Clarkson of Sprot as he came from the same village as myself. I never met him (thank goodness) but knew his father, and his grandfather was at one time my doctor.
