I notice that most of the cars in Towcar of the year appear to have Grand Aero mirrors but that these are fitted with the long dome sion vertically rather than horizontally.
This would seem to give a lesser field of view which probably does not matter on the test track but does it have any advantage when manouvering ?

I use the Grand Aero mirrors vertical to give a view of the rear corners of the caravan and a long view rearwards.
I then adjust the normal mirrors to show up the wide angle blind spots that have been missed.......easy if you have electrical adjustment.
You have to get used to glancing at both mirrors at the same time.

Never tried the vertical configuration to date and knowing how little swmbo dislikes change they're staying horizontal.

We are both thinking we may not need them on the new car. Now before we get jumped on there has been some thought and planning put into it. It is technically a LCV and quite wide. It has standard wide angle lens at the bottom. On top of this we have ordered it with long arm mirrors.

When it arrives we will line up on the drive and check out how our view is legally before setting off without mirrors. IF all is well we will try a trip round the block to see if we're both happy and feel okay without them. If either of us have any doubt we'll pop them on.

Tried my mirrors both ways and decided the best view was with the mirrors upright.

But will it still be the best view when you're cruising down a motorway; want to pull out to overtake a HGV - will you have the best view of lanes 2 and 3. That's why I like mine horizontal.

Like GafferBill, I have my normal car mirrors set to give me the wider and blind spot area behind, I also have a rear view camera on the Caravan which gives me about 150 degree vision,

If you have the height set correctly then horizontal mirrors give the widest view. I cannot see any practical advantage in setting the vertically.

The topic is about Grand Aero towing mirrors......if you get you measuring rule you will find that the measurement from pivot point to edge of mirror is 100mm regardless of orientation.
Horizontal orientation does not give a wider view.
