Attention Pageant & Senator Series 5 Owners !

After having problems with the plastic strips above the hob which house the downlighters and cover the wiring Warping and also the cupboard next to the oven getting extremely hot.

Bailey are now producing a deflector shield and vent which goes behind the oven in caravan wall to let the build up of heat behind the oven to escape to the outside.

I only found out about this kit by mistake when i took my van in to have the plastic strips replaced as Bailey aren't contacting anyone direct and are just waiting for people to start complaining.

The kit is model specific and is fitted under warranty.

Had mine fitted on 3 January so hopefully now the cupboard next to the oven will not get too hot.

That's a coincidence I thought that was a new vent that I hadn't seen before.

We get our new Oklahoma or (Oaklahoma as the dealers call it!) on Friday and having a look round the outside on Sunday I spotted that vent.

Hello Carlton,

Looking at the bulletin my dealer gave me a copy of i would say it effects all the models in both the ranges.

They are showing an example picture of the Louisiana (senator) which if i'm right has the large freezer compartment above the fridge.

When they say model specific i think what they are refering to is the shape of the heat shield.

What your dealer will do is put in a warranty claim against your particular model and Bailey will send them that particular kit for that particular model, mine was a Vendee.

Obviously they recognised their is a problem because they have started fitting them on the later models.

What gets me if my dealer hadn't said i wouldn't of known.

Paul,I had the same thing with the X-Trail

I read on this website of a recall affecting the ECU and turbo boost.

When I asked at the dealer the reply was along the lines of

"I recall that there is a recall"

Hi,

I have a Feb 2005 Series 5 Bordueax and could not belive how much heat went into the cupbuard next to the cooker, far more than any other van we have owned. We don't have the cooker on when we are not around the van, but last Summer the heat soakage caused us to cease using the oven for any lengthy period. The van is due its annual service in 2 weeks time so I will speak to the dealer. This just shows the benefits of a web forum.

Hi we haven't noticed this problem yet with our series 5 but thanks I'll look next time we go. We spent a whole year with our battery not charging (not that we knew about it) We have had a new motor fitted but it seems really noisy and it so we tend to turn it off at night. Is your fan as noisy?

Hi, we havea Series 5 Bordeaux and fisrtly the fan above the cooker was oaky, it then became noisier and finally would not work at all. The dealer replaced it under warranty.
