Pretty sure this year's Europe jaunt will centre upon these three countries. Most likely Austria primarily but keen to pop over the border as well.

Anyone any recent experience in any of these parts of the world?
Advice, comments, warnings all gratefully accepted.

At this distance I can't see any issues with Slovakia or Czechia (not going to Prague). Quite looking forward to spending time there and hoping a dictionary will suffice!

John,

Make sure you apply for your motorway vignettes before you go.

Look on-line for the official government web sites.

It's better that a 150 Euro fine in Austria if the poice pull you over.

Note that in Austria you need two vignettes, one for the car and one for the van, but unlike such as CH you don't have to pay for a full year - short stay vignettes are available. You can buy them at the border.
If you are travelling through France or Germany and include stops where you may wish to visit a town/city you would be wise to get vignettes for those countries as well.
For France apply here which will cost you €4.61
For Germany apply here (Berlin) which will cost you €6* both including postage. Also both sites are available in English (or Google translates them well) and will arrive in 4-5 days, payment by credit card.
[*There is no statutory charge for the sticker in Germany but Berlin (which applies nationally) is one of if not the cheapest .]
The fitting instructions supplied (especially the French) are a bit confusing. In simple terms attach them to the windscreen in an unswept area (to be compliant with British law) that can be seen by an official standing in front of the vehicle - basically that means in the top corner passenger side.

The German sticker, if you need it, is even cheaper if you go to any major car dealer once you've arrived in Germany and show him a copy of your V5c. He will provide one on the spot for €5.
