Would appreciate any advice as to buying a 2006 model of the above, been through it with a toothcombe, checking especially for cracks on outside panels, it is spotlessly clean, but what about obtaining parts seeing as Avondale no longer trade, it's a private sale so just want to make sure I cover all bases before parting with my hard earned.

Jeff check the rear end pannel at the top for cracks, heard all Avondales were prone to cracks due to the way they were manufactured, loved the van we look at but on hearing bad reports left it alone.

Having said that maybe like the Baileys just a few had problems, do a search on this forum any see if any posts are bad.

Hi Jeff, I have owned Avondales in the past. Apart from actual body panels, spare parts should not be difficult to get. The chassis is Alko and the water pump, gas and electric are all from well known brands who are still in business.

Thanks for all your replies, I have spoken to a caravan service centre since my original post who were authorised by Avondale to repair the cracked panels when the faults were found, it seems that during the manufacture the panels were removed from their moulds too early leaving them brittle, when awning rails etc were screwed to the side of the van airline cracks appeared which worsened when being towed. He has stated that the cracks would appear very early in the vans life so the 2006 model I am looking at would have showed by now, so as a precaution I am getting him (for a fee) to give the caravan a complete look over.

My only concern now is will I have trouble selling it on in years to come????
