Hi all, I'm after a new 240/12v tv for my caravan and can't decide whether to but the avtex 15" or 19".

Does anyone know the difference in power usage of the two, as I can't find this info anywhere.

I currently have a 10" roadstar tv/dvd which I have owned for 5 years. Great tv but too small and no freeview.

what do you plan to use your tv for ie are you just electric hook ups or 12v as well?

The Avtex is quite expensive for a 240v tv

Quoting from one retailer the Avtex W153D 15" LCD 12v TV / DVD Combination "240v AC / 12v DC operation (draws approx 3.2 amps on DC)

I when through the same thought process some years ago and concluded the Avtexs were poor on power consumption. I found the MobileTV sold by Grade quite a bit better , had a more vibrant picture and a more capable digital tuner, however were physically not as nicely made. I tested both on the same aerial to determine that the MobileTv's digital tuner "got" more stations.

After all that I got a SONY 15" A/C one that I run off an inverter when off EHU, it has a far better picture and digital tuner than either of the above and cost then just half the money.

Power wise it takes about 40 watts into the inverter, just slightly more at 3.4 amps that the Avtex 15".

Hi I went through this process and settled upon the Avtex 19" and glad that I did as it is fitted into my TV cupboard and a 15" would have been to small to view adequately from lounge seating.

Draws 4.2 Amps and I run it on 12v all the time even when on mains connection. Also have 12v digibox & satellite set up. Also means I do not need to mess around with inverters.
