Awning Bracket Advice

I purchased an Isabella Awning second hand for our 1000cm van off Ebay.

When we got the Awning we were misold in that it was too small, so I sent it away and got it extended to 1000cm, new beading was also fitted which I expect is standard size.

Awning size is now ok,

However I have one problem in that I dont know how to fix the poles to the van, I have purchased the Isabella 'fix on brackets' and I cant see how you fit them to the beading and to the van.

Am I missing something obvious, or is it that the beading is of the wrong size, the extention was done by a reputable company who have featured in PC Magazine so I am sure they know what they are doing.

My only other option is to go for rubber suckers, but I dont really want to do that.

The other thing is that the awning was not supplied with any brackets in the first place (I did get 30% of the money back I paid due to the size issue)

Any help appreciated.

Christopher,

Our Isabella has two lots of beeding. The main beeding goes through the awning rail as normal. There is then a second run of beeding on the inside to attach the brackets. It sounds as if they have fitted just one run of beeding.

If you give Isabella a ring they are really helpfull.

Thanks for that, that was my fear!, ill have to look at an alternative method of fixing the pole, hopefully somebody will give advise as to the best alternative for the isabella poles, the only one I can think of is the suction pads, and I dont know if that will cause other problems

I dont fancy drilling into the van.

Christopher,

Would it be possible to buy a say 1 metre length of beeding and cut it into as many pieces as you require.

Work out exactly the position of the brackets and sew the peices to the existing beeding.

You could then use the correct brackets, and your awning but be as stable as it should be.

Hi thanks again, thats good advice, I have just bought some rubber suckes at 99p each, I will see how we get on, if they become too much trouble I may enquire about the cost of fitting small pieces of beading, it has to be cheaper than a whole 1000cm of beading and would solve the issues with the suckers

Many Thanks

Hi Christopher,

we had our awning extended a few months ago and we assumed that they would have copied the beading that was on the awning already but they didn't but we spoke to them and they added the second one on.

All looked fine so we went away in the van, rained heavily during the night, following morning all clothes and other items were soaked in the awning. Where the new stitching had been done they had used a large needle, so we rang them up and they sent us "seamseal" which has worked fine.

Don't want to complain but thought I should mention this incase you intead to have people sleeping in the awning.

Hope this helps

Ian
