First timer her so bit nervous. Recently started Caravaning in small way, as family have moved on. Anyway we have a Awning and to be honest its a pain. Anyway , went to a local meet and saw a guy using one of these devices, Didnt like to bother him as he was obviously experianced Caravaner and i didnt want to look a numpty. Has anyone bought, used, or any experiances of this gadget.Seemed to work realy well .

We bought one last summer to go with our Isabella awning. We saw it in the Caravan Club Magazine

My husband has arthritis in his shoulder and it causes him a lot of pain when he puts up our awning.

We had thought about buying a porch awning until we saw this awning companion.

I found one on the awning companion website, we've used it three times since,it works

quite well, so well in fact, that my husband manages to put the awning up by himself now,

without hurting his shoulder or needing my help.

We thought it was a bit pricey, but it does a good job. My husband doesn't have to worry about

getting the awning tight,any more.

In future when you see someone using something that looks interesting always go ask.. Caravanners are always pleased to help others .. We all had to learn

I have looked at Mike's link (thanks Mike). I did not know what an awning companion was until this question was raised by Steven. It looks a usefull piece of kit BUT can see a problem if used with alloy poles.

When the poles are gripped and stretched by the Companion it looks impossible to rotate the poles within each other to lock them into place.

I totally agree with Rita. We are (well most of us) keen to share ideas and chat with fellow 'vanners so come on Steven pop over and have a chat.

Awning Companion . Its designed to help with putting tension on your Awning poles i think while putting it up, thus making it a 1 person job instead of 2, ideal i would of thought if you have like janet said if u suffer with arthritis

I got one last year and found it a great help. The only thing I found was that I must have over-tensioned the roof poles a bit as the awning seams opened up a little and got a slight leak from them when it rained. I released the tension and it was fine. Useful bit of kit.

billy3fish must be an angler like myself, funny thing used to have a mate billynofish for obvious reasons.
You are correct Dave - the reason for the 3fish handle is that I landed 3 fish in one net once - I hooked a carp and there were 2 Pike also in the net with it!
