Awning displays

We live just over the second severn crossing into Wales and are looking to buy a new or second hand awning. Fairly sure we don't want a full awning (with a Bailer Senator Carolina it would be monstrous!!!), but still open to ideas on porch, midi-type awnings or even a good sun canopy. However we would like to have a good look at some first. Anyone know a dealer near us who has a half decent display?

We have Mendip down the road in Newport, also in Weston, Davan in Weston and Highbridge caravans too, but have not been to these for quite some while so not sure what they have up. However would rather only go to them if they have at least half a dozen up to have a nose at.

Or should we wait and go to the NEC?

Cheers in advance.

Mendip in Newport do not have many awnings at all,but if I remember right Mendip just outside Western had one or two more than Newport, best display I have seen for awnings is Highbridge so you could stop off at Mendip Western on your way down to Highbridge. We live in Blackwood, Gwent and have recently been to Cardiff, Barry, Blazers and Sunnyhaven Caravans, hope this helps.

Lesley,

Best place to see lots of awnings? Most caravan sites, any time. Book in, set up and have a wander around and see what you like. Most people would only be too happy to have a chat about their awning, too.

Re your choice of type - I've now collected three; full size (used for 1 week plus hols), Sunncamp Scenic Plus (nice weather weekends) and an Isabella porch awning (winter/wet weekends).

The Scenic Plus is a good compromise at a cheap price - light and airy and keeps out most of the weather. Can also hold a fair bit of gear.

Mendip Newport have 4 or 5 awnings on display - worth a visit, as you're not too far from them.

Its mite just be me but I can not see the point of use a porch awning has it only a bit more time to put a full one up and you have lost more room has well To use.

I would go with what Jeff say asks a round a caravan sit that way you will get to now the in and out of so awnings and I would have a thick of what you have had in the past and what you thick of it and how you found it to set it up ah you are going to be the one use the awning.

One other bit is at show and dealers they put there awnings up in side with no weather conditions to put them of put them up and how do you now if they put them up has the company who awing is on show cud have sent there owe people to set it up.

We use a perch awning as it only takes 5 mins to put up and take down. The big awning is a pain when only going away for a few days.

We have had to have our main awning enlarged due to the fact the new van is bigger than the last one. Not really an option now when you only stay on a site for 2 nights
