Awning Poles

first an apology to any one who replied. I have posted this before but I can't find it.

I have a Bradcot awning with fibre glass poles.

1. the poles creak endlessly even in the lightest breeze (really annoying)

2. the poles are not Bradcot and so the hooks are nothing like the hooks on say the easiup system, the hook is not closed round as tightly thus they always look as though they will come out of the pads in a storm (really worrying)

any advice please to help me sleep at night?

thanks

Martin.

Whose poles are they?

If the diameter is the same as Bradcots why not change the "hook ends" to match the Bradcot easiup pads?

Or could you change the pads? eg Isabella fix on etc.

I assume the creaking is coming rom the hook / pad area? You have correctly tensioned all the poles?

Cheers

I hope I am using this forum correctly. Thanks for your replies the poles were a cost option from Bradcot when we bought the awning new. We chose fibre-glass over easiup for the strength. The pole diameter (ext) is 26mm, much larger than steel or aluminium. I have tried using Isabella pads and although the hooks are much more safely held. the pads don't lock tightly onto the internal beading as I guess Iabella beading is thicker. I like the sound of the candle wax fix I shall be applying that tomorrow.

Thanks again for your interest and advice

Martin, up until last summer I had Bradcots with carbon fibre poles. They didn't particularly creak so I can't give you any advice on that.

However, I did have problems with the ends jumping out of the pads in severe storms. I fixed that by bending the hooks a little more: they just need a bit care inserting into the pads. I also put some heavy duty plastic cable ties across the hook when they were in place. That seemed to do the job

Hi Martin

I have a Bradcot Classic with the carbon fibre poles. They are actually the same make as the Isabella awnings I understand. Both companies use the same 3rd party supplier. That is helpful in buying spares.

I must admit that I've not had a problem with either creaking or the hooks jumping out of the pads. I ensure that the poles are well tensioned and have not had these problems. I have Bradcot dedicated tie down kit which I use when the weather is windy and that, also, helps keep the awning stable. That might help your situation although can be a problem screwing it in in hard ground.

Hope this helps.

Tim
