Can anyone advise me on what's the best way to remove the compound that the awning rail and other aluminium trims is bonded on to my 1991 ABI Sunstar please, thanks in advance.

Get the worst off with a plastic scraper, then white spirit, and finally a clean to get the residue off with Meths.
Not an easy job and time consuming.
How ever some one at he weekend suggested the silicone remover you can buy from DIY stores, never tried it but you could tell us if it works!!!!!!

I used some" of these with copious amounts of WD40 they help you get some pressure on to remove the stubborn / hard stuff, but won't scratch the paint and as Gaga pointed out clean the residue off with meths or an aerosol tin of brake cleaner will do the same job.

Thanks gents, as usual you don't disappoint, the use of the toffee wheels might be a bit of a snag, our van is up in an East Yorkshire storage compound and there's no power so I'm confined to battery tools, I'll make sure I've got loads of meths and white spirits too, thanks again, I'll let you all know how I get on guys.
