Awning Skirt

Hi,

Been caravaning for a couple of years now but have struggled to find a solution for the following and would be grateful for any experience.

After I erect my awning to my twin axel van I proceed to fit the skirt into the channel on the van wall, I then tuck this under the ground sheet and all is fine. However, the additional piece of skirt that fit's over the wheels has no where to join to and simply falls/blows off. I did receive a set of press studs with the skirt but I am not very keen on drilling these to the side of my van. How does everyone else cope with this?

hi if you go to a pound shop or any hardware shop you can buy some suction cups with hooks on.just make a small hole in the top of the wheel cover and thread the hook through and stick it to your van.we used them for the first time last week and it solved the problem of not wanting to drill the van for press studs.

I had the same problem with our new (2007) Sprite Alpine. I took off the plastic wheel arch and drilled through that to put some press studs on it. The skirt is folded across each corner to make it look a bit tidier. Used it the first time last week and it does the job without having to drill the van sides.

ROB

try this one you can bye velcro pads at any hardware shop B&Q etc stick one side to caravan then stick the otherside to the back side of your awning skirt then stick the 2 velcro pads to each other. or as i do get a thin sheet of hardwood ply 3mm thick cut it 10mm bigger than your double wheel arch .then cut it in half and fit a small set of hinges to attach the 2 half,s together or tape them together either way .fold in half put top half into arch first then thread the 2 half,s into the wheelarch space and open out .sounds hard but it works 4 me

hope this helps

Hi all, did similar to rob but used a material called cordex, a finely corragated plastic sheet, covered both sides again with plastic, it is about 4mm thick and flexable. I then stuck a piece of awning protecter rail 500mm long to it with duct {gaffa} tape, in line with skirt rail, slide on to this a piece of the dual sided skirt rail they supply with awnings, and slide the skirt through it, it has worked out very well.

The cordex was flexable to go over the new type of wheel locks which bolt through wheel.

Any ideas anyone has plese on forum.
