Awning storm straps - an idea

I have been looking at getting some storm straps for my Isabella awning which I acquired second hand. Isabella does not recommend the 'up and over' types as they can rub/chaff the roof fabric leading to problems.

They do make two separate storm straps which can be fitted inside or outside the awning - the former being preferable to me as they are less of a trip hazard outside and look neater.

The Isabella ones are up to £23 each. I thought people might be interested in the solution I have chosen from Screwfix - http://www.screwfix.com/prods/13224/Hand-Tools/Load-Handling/Ratchet-Strap-3m

Basically, pass the 'S' hook at one end over the corner pole when it is all erected and then hook it back on the strap - put the other end 'S' hook onto the ground anchor (which I already have) and tighten them up. Cost is £7.50 each

Thanks. If you want to look how Isabella suggest they fit their look at this link - http://www.leisureshopdirect.com/caravan/outdoor/product_31535/isabella_storm_strap_and_peg.aspx

Since my initial post I have found loads of tie down straps for trailers etc which will do the job just as well and far less costly.
